Merchant Banking
At times our investment partners and we will invest for our own account, primarily in the equity securities of growth-oriented, middle-market companies. Normally we will only consider an equity investment where we actively participate in the strategic direction of the company. In such situations we encourage key management to participate along with us in the ownership through direct investment and/or profit participation.
With our international expertise Armand has particular interest in cross-border middle market transactions. In conjunction with our resident European partner we have established strong relationships with major European financial institutions and have the tax, accounting and structuring knowledge to efficiently execute such transactions.
Historically, Armand's investment portfolio has been broad based with principal positions in manufacturing, distribution and specialty retail companies. In recent years we have taken control positions in several European leisure product companies. Normally, we aim to have active participation in two to three companies at any one time.
Select complimentary businesses and other companies with strong growth potential and/or niche markets are actively sought. Turn-around situations with well-identified niche markets or proprietary products will also be considered.
