Peter F. Meder - Chicago
Special Limited Partner
Peter F. Meder is President and founder of Peter Meder & Company, Inc., of Chicago, Illinois. The firm provides management consulting services, specializing in executive search, to corporations, organizations, and institutions across North America.
Prior to founding and managing his own firm in 1987, Mr. Meder served as a principal and consultant for the executive search firms Egon Zehnder International and Robert Heidrick Company. Earlier he was Vice President in corporate banking with Continental Illinois Bank in Chicago. He holds an M.M. degree from Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University; and a B.A., also from Northwestern.
In founding and leading his firm, Mr. Meder created a client-service model different from those of other executive search consultants, in which the needs of the client define the relationship: "What's good for the client is what drives our business. This means that we do what's right for the client's business. Clients trust us to find the right answer."
Experience gained early in his career convinced Mr. Meder that an executive search consulting practice must be built around the client's business objectives. This guiding principle has driven the firm's practices and behavior, including Mr. Meder's insistence that the firm's consultants come from senior-level client service backgrounds, and that the firm avoid conflicts of interest by not serving competitive clients.
Among Mr. Meder's specific areas of expertise are his abilities in guiding clients through difficult issues involving professional services governance and organization alignment. In addition to consulting directly with clients, he has served as an expert witness in a variety of high-profile legal cases involving governance issues.
